Writer, Editor & Marketer
(and a few other things)
Hello! I’m Kia Cranwell and I’ve been working with the built environment, interiors and property sectors for 20 years (which makes me sound much older than I feel).
Whether I’m developing multichannel content strategies and campaign plans or writing articles, websites, blogs, guides and books, I love what I do – which is probably why I’m still doing it after all these years.
Psychology, communications and technology
I began my marketing career in the fast-paced advertising agency world as a graduate and haven’t looked back since.
The world of communications and content move fast, which is why it’s so important to understand how people consume and respond to information across every medium. It changes and evolves all the time.
I’ve always been fascinated by communication, language and behaviour. After my studies in English, business and marketing, I continued to build my knowledge with a second degree in psychology, and earned additional marketing certificates from CIM, Google, eConsultancy and HubSpot.
These days, it’s essential to know how the technology behind content marketing works so that we can use it effectively to share our content with those that matter.
My joy comes from crafting and writing interesting content but I also appreciate all that effort would be wasted if no one saw it. It’s just as important to know how to play the game of Google as it is to create great content.
Property marketing expertise
After a good run in the agency world, working my way up to the top of the tree, I set up a content marketing agency.
I worked across industry but my passion took me in the direction of property, where I was fortunate to work with incredible furniture designers, green building contractors, property companies and a few well-known brands in the built environment (if you’d like to see feedback from my past clients, you can read their reviews here).
As my involvement in the property sector grew, so did my interest in building, interiors and sustainability…
Interior design, wellness and sustainability (Scandi style)
My move into interiors marketing opened up new career opportunities. My Creative Director and I were lucky to find an incredible historic building in 2008, which was much too big for our agency’s needs. That extra space fuelled many ideas and a new initiative was born.
With full creative freedom, a great deal of hard work and a lot of help, we turned that neglected women’s airforce building into a beautiful, bright workspace, art gallery and breakout event space – from the ground up. It was then that my interest in interior design really took hold, as I delved into every aspect of a healthy, inspirational work space – both in the home and office.
That workspace was one of the first and longest running co-working spaces in the UK.
I love learning about interiors and how they can affect our health and the future of our planet. It’s been a catalyst for me to delve into my Swedish heritage (that’s where my name comes from) and discover more about Scandinavian living, sustainability and design.
I’ve since worked with some incredible designers in this space who are creating interiors that benefit our health and protect the future of our planet – as well as beautifying it.
As a side note: If you’re looking for Swedish copywriting services, I can’t help. I (embarrassingly) can’t speak the language well enough (yet) as my English roots have had a far greater influence on my writing. Förlåt.
What does all this mean for you?
My expertise in digital marketing, content strategy and copywriting combined with my almost-obsessive interest and experience in interior design, property, wellness and sustainability means that you’re getting much more than just a strategist and wordsmith…
You’re benefiting from a switched-on marketer and experienced writer who’s been where you are, understands your industry, knows what works and shares your passion.
For two decades I’ve worked with business owners and decision-makers, helping them to grow their ideas, initiatives and brands with the right words, marketing strategy and positioning.
That’s my story. I’d love to hear (and write about) yours. Please get in touch and tell me all about your business and where you’d like to take it – and I’ll help you get there.
